CZ Declares 'Perp DEX Era' as ASTER Hits New All-Time High

Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has officially declared the start of the “perp DEX era,” a term referring to the rapid rise of decentralized perpetual futures platforms. 

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Zhao encouraged teams to explore decentralized derivatives, signaling a growing shift in the crypto trading sector.

CZ’s declaration follows the explosive growth of Hyperliquid, which popularized the perp DEX model through high-profile whale trades and deep liquidity. 

However, Zhao has also shown strong public support for ASTER, a rising competitor that recently rallied to a new all-time high above $2.37, gaining 22% in the last 24 hours on record volumes surpassing $2.9 billion.

In his post, CZ noted that decentralized perpetuals offer fee predictability and user privacy, suggesting that some DEXs may soon adopt mechanisms to obscure trader positions, a strategy to protect against counter-trading in high-volume markets.

Aster And BNB Rally, Hyperliquid Drops

CZ’s consistent commentary on perp DEX innovation has fueled price discovery for both ASTER and BNB, Binance’s native token. While BNB remains strong above $1,000, it has slightly pulled back from its peak of $1,057. 

ASTER, however, continues to surge, buoyed by whale activity and integration news. CoinMarketcap data shows the Aster price has soared by 35% in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, Hyperliquid’s HYPE token has taken a hit, sliding to $45. The downturn reflects waning sentiment for HYPE amid surging demand for newer, more active DEX protocols. CZ’s endorsement has validated ASTER’s rise and opened the door for more competition in the space. 

The ongoing pivot from centralized to decentralized derivatives trading appears to be gaining real momentum, especially as infrastructure like Trust Wallet and protocol-level DEX integrations start catching up.
